The Ghosts of the Ocean spirits are inspired by the tagline “From The Ocean. For The Ocean”.

The conservation of the ocean that surrounds the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores is at the heart of each bottle. 

Each edition from our gin range heroes a creature that can be seen in or around the ocean that encircles the islands. The designs reflect our love of this ocean and our contribution to protecting it through a donation per bottle sold to marine conservation.

Ghosts of The Ocean Gins are distilled in Portugal.  

We source the majority of our botanicals locally, resulting in flavours that are typical of the region. We keep the carbon footprint of our gin production to the minimum.

We have carefully chosen our packaging, to minimise the carbon footprint it generates. 

Our regular bottles are made from 100% post consumer recycled glass, shaped into a beautiful bottle, with 100% natural colour. 

We have chosen an innovative manufacturer with a focus on minimising wastage and cutting energy consumption during the production process, delivering reductions of up to 25%. We seal our bottles with a unique, cutting-edge cork and activated charcoal stopper. These two natural materials work together to produce a stopper that is superior to cork alone, is produced using less water and energy, and is aesthetically appealing.  

The artwork on our bottles is created by local artist Catarina Limão, who is based on her native island of São Miguel. 

We make a donation to The Ocean Azores Foundation for every bottle we sell, and we encourage our partners in bars and retail to do the same. 

Since launching our gins in 2022, these initiatives have generated over €28,000 in donations to support the foundation’s work on marine conservation in the waters of the Azores archipelago.
